Panoply is a standalone application from Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) for visualizing and inspecting geo-referenced arrays from metroplogical / atmospheric data.

Requires Java runtime to run. On macos this can be checked for with ll /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines. If no jdk is present see the Oracle Java download page.

Data can be opened from both local and remote locations. Remote files can be opened with cmd+l and inserting the url to the dialog.
