Tasseled Cap Transformation

Kauth-Thomas tasseled cap transformation (TCT) uses a combination of image bands and a specialize coefficient matrix to create data plots. It is called the tasseled cap transformation because of the cap shape of the plot of values for greenness and brightness.

Landsat 8 OLI Coefficient Matrix

Band 2 Band 3 Band 4 Band 5 Band 6 Band 7
Brightness 0.0329 0.2786 0.4733 0.5599 0.5080 0.1872
Greeness -0.2941 -0.2430 -0.5424 0.7276 0.0713 -0.1608
Wetness 0.1511 0.1973 0.3283 0.3407 -0.7117 -0.4559

Raster creation formula = (Band 2 coefficient*Band 2) + (Band 3 coefficient*Band 3) + (Band 4 coefficient*Band 4) + (Band 5 coefficient*Band 5) + (Band 6 coefficient*Band 6) + (Band 7 coefficient*Band 7)
